Conference focus
The ever-shifting organizational needs, as well as the volatile markets within which we operate, present various technological challenges. We require appropriate technologies that increase efficiency in production and revenue. Consequently, engineering such systems is critical for ensuring that organisations receive value from such initiatives.

The field of Software Engineering provides the appropriate engineering principles upon which the development of such technologies hinges. The discipline of Applied Computing emphasizes the practicality of such technologies in meeting the desired need. Despite the various research efforts already shown in this area, many challenges still remain. New techniques have to be devised, while existing techniques must be tested in a range of environments to determine whether and how they are useful and relevant.

This conference series focuses primarily on Software Engineering and Applied Computing. It is our hope that this conference series and the publications arising from it will trigger further related research and technological improvements in this important field.

Conference goal
The goal of this conference series is to bring together both African and international researchers in the field of ICT to share ideas, problems and solutions in Software Engineering and Applied Computing, and specifically with regard to the use of new and emerging technologies to address socio-economic challenges. Thus, creating an opportunity both for academics and practitioners from industry to discuss recent progress in this area.

Conference theme

The theme of the conference is "Innovative approaches to enhancing business growth and efficiency”. This conference includes: Technical Sessions; Education Sessions; Tutorials and Workshops; and Industrial Exhibits. All of these will present recent developments in the area of Software Engineering and Applied Computing. There will be numerous presentations and discussions about modeling techniques for complex systems in diverse areas of science, scalable scientific algorithms, advanced software tools, advanced numerical methods, and novel areas of application. Similarly, there will also be demonstrations where these new models, algorithms and tools are applied in areas as diverse as finance, environmental systems, physical systems, computational and systems biology, among others.

Conference highlights

  • ACSEAC2012 is in technical co-sponsorship with IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Scalable Computing.
  • ACSEAC2012 is in technical co-sponsorship with the IEEE
  • This conference is expecting to draw over 200 international participants, including: Industrial and academic researchers, managers, architects, engineers and consultants in the IT industry, vendors and users of software tools, professors and students.
  • Workshops on emerging topics will be an integral part of this conference.
  • Tutorials by leading experts in their fields will be given.
  • There will be a Best Paper Award and also a Best Student Paper Award.

Conference proceedings

Just like for our previous conference,

  • The proceedings of this conference will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library and will also be submitted for indexing.
  • Post-conference proceedings will be included in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series published by Springer. This will be for only selected papers.

To this end, we invite submission of original research reports, work in progress, and reports that detail how specific technologies are applied in industry and to what extent they are effective and relevant.

For further details, please refer to the Call for Papers section or download the CFP.

Our previous conference in Cape Town was a huge success!!! A big thank you to our sponsors and the participants

Some of the photos taken at the event are available here

We had a 43.76% paper acceptance rate and this time around it may be lower than that. Therefore, quality is key in what we are looking for .
